Releasing the constant sense that something is missing, and discovering that this moment, just as it is, may already be complete.
Just notice the very familiar experience of the sense of something missing,
however that form takes for you.
You might know it as the sense that something needs to be realized,
or something needs to change,
or some problem needs to be resolved.
It's the general sense that something in life is missing,
something is not okay,
what you need or what you're looking for is not here.
Just that general sense of something missing.
And as you sit here,
notice that the mind is invested,
focused on that which is missing,
perpetually trying to resolve, to fix, in progress.
Become very familiar, gently attuned to dissatisfaction,
a sense of need.
You might feel it in the body,
sensation,
possibly a subtle urge,
pain or anguish,
some form of discomfort,
but ultimately it's a very simple sense of dissatisfaction, something missing.
If you don't notice this or know what I'm referring to,
see what your mind is doing,
where the energy, the attention is going.
It will likely be focused on resolving this sense of lack,
even by sitting here meditating itself,
the urge to get something,
to shift something,
to arrive somewhere.
Resting in the open experience
And stay grounded in the open experience of sensations and breath, sounds.
From that openness,
from the reality of now,
look gently and closely at that sense of lack,
the form of some emotions or discomforts, sensations in the body.
And thoughts will likely be a little difficult or uncomfortable to look at,
the attention just keeps trying to fix this,
as opposed to looking at the attempt of fixing.
Notice possibly a resistance to look at this mechanism, a restlessness.
We've invested so much energy, so much time in this process of fixing,
getting somewhere,
working,
pushing,
psychology,
spirituality,
meditation,
effort,
effort.
Even when nothing is particularly happening,
sitting quietly, just like this,
the body-mind searching,
trying,
seeking.
As if running from a ghost.
What if it's already here
What if what you are looking for is already here?
What if ultimate satisfaction is possible right here, right now, without conditions?
What would you need to let go of for this to be possible?
For peace and well-being to be your experience of this moment,
for breathing to be a miracle,
for hearing to be a miracle,
for seeing to be a miracle,
for feeling to be a miracle,
for thinking to be a miracle,
or hurting to be a miracle,
or suffering to be a miracle.
Or this mystery to be a miracle,
so that discomfort, boredom, fear is a miracle.
Sensations, sounds,
colors,
shapes,
images,
thoughts,
a mind-blowing miracle,
always.
What would it take,
what beliefs would need to be dropped for this to be possible?
Beliefs, certainty,
being held on to so tightly,
makes this miracle into something known where something is wrong and missing.
Just this,
everything that this is,
let it be a miracle.
Everything as miracle
With the reminder of miracles,
the sounds, reminders of miracles.
All thoughts and emotions coming from a miracle, going towards a miracle.
Empty mystery creating everything,
and the miracle and pleasure to witness this miracle,
each of us witnessing my precious, vulnerable, unique point of view.
The heart that sings and loves celebrates the tasting of this miracle,
the knowing of this miracle.
Let it be so.
Looking at what I is
If you look closely,
that which feels like I,
what do we call I?
You might have a thought,
an image of your face,
your memories,
your life,
past,
future,
but if you look closely those are all thoughts, imagination,
and what I is referring to is this mystery.
Unknowable miracles.
Well, the here and now appearing is a miracle.
I is a miracle,
not bound by thoughts,
not knowable by thoughts,
not defined by memories,
just this open loving.
Slowly,
the miracle opens eyes.
