Just This That Is Happening

Solo Esto que Está Sucediendo

A gentle invitation to notice your present experience as it is, discovering the quiet awareness and sense of being beneath passing thoughts and sensations.

Just This That Is Happening

Notice.

Notice any movement.

For this meditation,
you can leave your eyes open or keep them closed.
Up to you.

Nothing needs to be achieved,
so there is no better strategy.
It's just about the curiosity,
the exploration of what's happening,
sensing,
tasting,
hearing.

Just what's happening,
thinking,
imagining,
the discomfort,
struggle,
none of it needs to change.

We can change as we can see it differently,
but not through a technique,
not through achieving,
just by noticing.

Experience filtered through thought

Notice how experience is filtered through thoughts, filtered through the mind,
the sense of what is happening,
the reality of what is happening
as an interpretation of thoughts,
a mental map that lays over the understanding.

It might be a background,
that I am sitting meditating.
The sense of sitting meditating is a thought.
Meditation as a doing is a thought,
it's just this that is happening.

The body as sensation

There are sensations in the body which are just
clouds of tingling, aliveness,
moving,
changing,
shifting.

The sense of a body is just this tingling, moving sensations.
The notion of feet or hands or back, just thoughts.

The river of mind

There is likely a stream of imagination,
mind wandering with images,
stories, which are just colors and forms and shapes and sounds of
possible inner dialogues,
words just sounds and concepts,
a stream like a river,
just a river of shapes and colors and forms, sounds
of inner voices, all just a river of mind,
none of it carrying any particular meaning or value.

Just a river,
or it could be a loud river and waterfalls,
or just a stream in the background.

Just like weather,
just like the traffic and the streets,
no particular meaning.
If it is stormy, the storm will come and go.

Time in the stream

There might be a sense of time,
not just the movement, but the sense of the past and the future.

In this moment, there is just this movement of sensations,
tingling,
the sounds of my voice,
other sounds, colours and shapes,
sight and perception, all of it happening in one field
of infinite textures and movements.

Within that same field there is the imagination of past and future,
only existing in that river of thoughts.
The stream carrying images and narratives of past based on memory.
The stream carrying imaginations of future.
Time only existing in that stream.

What is here right now is timeless.
Just movement,
movement without beginning,
without end,
just everything moving,
slow movement,
quick movements.

Quiet knowingness

Within everything appearing,
there is intrinsically a quiet knowingness that is effortless.

A sensation appearing effortlessly,
together with the effortless knowing of the sensation, inseparable.

The appearance of worry or contraction or discomfort appears
effortlessly with the knowingness of the worry or the discomfort.

This knowingness is unaffected,
unaffected by whether there is a discomfort or a worry.
Or something else, it is just pure knowingness.

This knowingness is often forgotten.
The first freedom is in recognizing this pure knowingness,
so a storm is not just a storm.
Worry is not just a worry.
The fear, not just the fear.
The pain is not just the pain.
There is this quiet knowingness.

The shapes and forms change,
pleasures,
pains,
comforts, but knowingness is the knowingness.
Whatever is appearing,
no matter what is happening,
pure unaffected knowingness.

The sense of I am

Recognize the sense of being,
the sense of I am.
That sense of I or me here,
so natural and ordinary.

Notice how it may be associated with the body.
What I am, what is here of me is the body,
and what I am is this person,
this character,
with a name and a past and a life and a future.

Notice how all of this body is sensations,
or can be seen, the character
of the person as the stream of thoughts,
imagination,
memory,
and so this I am seems to be the body and the mind.

What if it is not?
What if it is prior?

Just let that sense of beingness be,
this pure beingness,
free from being any particular thing or way,
just I am, not the words, not the sound,
just that sense of here.

Here,
alive,
quiet,
just as quiet as that sense of knowingness.
Just as unaffected by anything happening.

Beingness and knowingness.
Quiet deep sense,
no matter what is happening.
